We hear often that the powerful challenges in the planet right now need some innovative solutions.
Besides the basic things like shelter, water, food, and access to healthcare, which of course are VITAL for people, the world needs two very important things that you can give it:
Creativity is a word that terrifies many of us. We associate “creativity” with artistic ability or expressive capacities. Some of you may even have memories of feeling like you weren’t “good at art” or other such nonsense…
Creativity is the ability to find solutions.
When you pack your kids lunch, you are being creative. When you get a stain out of your shirt, you are being creative. When you find a new way to get to work that avoids traffic, you are being creative. When you find new ways to communicate with your loved ones that is more respectful and honoring, you are being creative. When you discover ways to empower yourself and grow in your self-esteem, you are being creative.
You get the point.
You are creating each and every second of your existence.
You ARE creative.
There are two kinds of creativity:
. Situational Creativity
. Fundamental Creativity
Situational Creativity is:
In the moment
Determined by your conditioning (your beliefs, your experiences, your epigenetic lineage, your Human Design, etc.)
Offers short term solutions
Finite - comes from the conditioned mind
The result of “thinking” and reasoning” (The Mind)
It is “reasonable”
Situational creativity is limited to what we think is probable and possible. It’s also based on what we believe is true and rooted in our past experiences. It does not allow us to be open to new solutions and innovations because it’s very limited and reactive.
When faced with the seemingly overwhelming challenges on the planet right now, it’s easy for us to fall into situationally creative responses. We have been told by the media, in movies and even by scientists that we are doomed, that climate change will decimate the planet and many people will starve and struggle….
We are conditioned to think that our situation is “impossible” and that there is nothing we can do about it. We react with fear, despair and even fail to take action because we think it won’t actually help anyway…
Let me just remind you that there was once a time when people thought it was “impossible” to go to the moon or prevent diseases like polio.
The creative solutions to polio or to getting to the moon didn’t happen until people began to believe it was possible.
The second kind of creativity called Fundamental Creativity:
Usually arrives in the form of an epiphany (“Ah-ha!”)
Comes from the Quantum Field and is unlimited by our finite minds
Is imaginative and possibility oriented
Aligns with Cosmic Order (in other words it’s aligned with LOVE)
It is “un-reasonable”
Fundamental Creativity has given us things like electricity, the capacity to go to the moon, nuclear and reactive engines and more!
We are designed to tap into evolutionary fundamental creativity. It’s our nature and part of our hard-wiring. But our training in life has taught us to experience creativity only within the limits of what we think is possible and that, if we want to create something new, we have to “figure it out”.
Think about this for a minute. How many times have you struggled and wrestled with a problem and then suddenly had an epiphany in the shower after weeks of worry, stress and contorting and twisting your brain?
Shower epiphanies are experiences of Fundamental Creativity.
If we’re going to solve the challenges of the world we have to do two things. We have to shift what we believe is possible and we have to deepen our capacity to become more fundamentally creative.
To become more fundamentally creative and to be ready to receive the creative “sparks” that will give us the solutions to creating a sustainable and peaceful world we have to:
. De-Condition ourselves. (We have to release pain, trauma and change our epigenetic programming that keeps us from believing in seemingly impossible solutions.)
. Know who we are. Self-knowledge and self-awareness is the best defense against getting caught up in the Group Mindset of lack, despair and the idea of “impossible”
Our brains give us our best ideas when:
A lot of dopamine is released in our brains. Triggers like exercising, listening to music, and, yes, taking a warm shower, contribute to increased dopamine flow.
2. We’re relaxed. When we have a relaxed state of mind, we're more likely to turn attention inwards, able to make insightful connections.
3. We’re distracted. Distraction gives our brains a break so our subconscious can work on a problem more creatively. (This is similar to John Cleese's advice to let your ideas bake.)
A dopamine high, relaxed state, and distracted mind: No wonder great ideas happen in the shower.
In other words, taking care of yourself, staying connected to beauty, well-being, truth, love and other archetypes that are more aligned with creativity and managing stress will actually support you in finding solutions to change the world.
You have within you the capacity to generate an innumerable number of possible solutions to helping the world. But you can’t access these solutions if you’re reacting from a conditioned place or if you’re freaked out, worried or feeling despair.
Your creative response to life increases when you are living a life that is aligned with your authentic self and when you are taking care of yourself. It’s from that place that you are able to serve the world better.
